Made in USA:

The Weinbrenner Shoe Company is one of a few remaining companies that still makes professional-grade occupational safety work boots and shoes in the USA...over 125 styles! In fact, they have been doing it for over 117 years, right here in Wisconsin!

We guarantee the boots we sell are 100% American Made, Union Made. Except for the raw rubber from Brazil and L-Protection® puncture resisting fire midsole from Germany, these boots are all American. We visit the plant at least every four weeks, so we have seen the pride put into making these boots first hand.

You have my word. Buy confidently. Buy American.

1. Why does TheUnionBootPro.com sell only Weinbrenner footwear?

We did our homework and discovered, first hand, that Weinbrenner is truly dedicated to making the best job-fitted work boots in America. They have been quietly (and without alot of hipe, like other more well-known brands) designing and making the toughest work boots for the toughest work environments since 1892! Today's range of footwear products includes both WORK and UNIFORM boots and shoes.

If it happens in either Merrill or Marshfield, Wisconsin, every "Made in USA" boot begins its life with the hand selection of raw leather. After that, over 125 manufacturing steps are required to complete a boot. During this process, over 10 "in-line" inspections occur that guarantees that every pair of boots delivered will perform as promised. As many of our customers have discovered, a Weinbrenner work boot is both comfortable out of the box and up to the demands of the toughest job.

Ask... any electrician, carpenter, ironworker, boilermaker, sheetmetal worker, utility lineman, millwright, assembler or fabricator who has worn Thorogood® or Work One® boots and you will discover a dedication to the brand that recognizes the quality of workmanship, comfort and performance they experienced after a long day on the job. American workers trust their Weinbrenner boots.

Plus, WSC has been union organized since 1946. Simply put, when you buy "Made in USA" footwear from TheUnionBootPro.com you are supporting American working families and therefore, our economy. Just look for the American flag on our product photography - that will tell you it's American Made, Union Made.

Ask... any structural firefighter, wildland firefighter and emergency response medic who has worn HellFire® boots and you will again discover a loyal following to the integrity and performance built into every boot. Innovative design, highlighted by both foot protection and foot support features are the trademarks that has made these boots a vital piece of day-to-day equipment worn by thousands of dedicated public servants across the country. Once again, Weinbrenner delivers.

2. Are there any additional discounts availability?

Boot Fit:

1. How do I pick the right size?

This is a tricky one. Every foot is different and, therefore, the perfect fit is ultimately up to the wearer. Weinbrenner "USA Made" footwear tends to feel more generous as far as size goes when compared to imported footwear styles. Please keep that in mind when ordering. You may want to order a 1/2 size smaller than your normal athletic type shoes.

"Quick Release" style shoes and "Wellington" style boots tend to feel tighter when first worn. Unlike lace-up styles, that allow the wearer to secure the fit, quick release and wellingtons are designed with a secured fit to start. This feature prevents heel travel up and down. Over time these styles will conform to the shape of the wearer's foot.

This suggestion might sound odd, but try ordering two sizes if you very unsure. This method can save you money on shipping in the long run and guarantee the right fit.

Shoe & Boot Care:

1. How do I take care of my shoes or boots?

Clean leather with a conditioner/cleaner. Clean Cordura nylon with detergent and water.

Treat waterproof leather with a silicone product only. Treat smooth leather with a quality shoe polish, then buff. Full grain leather can first be treated with a boot oil or silicone before applying the polish.

Allow footwear to dry slowly at room temperature only, never by a heat source.

Keep the insides of the footwear dry and clean with powders and disinfectant sprays. Consider a second pair. This allows the one to dry out thoroughly while the other pair is being worn.

OSHA Guidelines:
Personal Protective
Equipment

OSHA: Personal Protective Equipment

Excerpt taken from:
U.S. Department of Labor
Occupational Safety and Health Administration
OSHA Booklet 3151-12R-2003 (Current)

In 2004 The ANSI Institute (ANSI) was absorbed by The American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM). Thorogood, HellFire and Work One boots, manufactured by The Weinbrenner Shoe Company, that are required to meet specific occupational safety standards now meet the highest Class 75 levels. These levels or "ratings" are defined by the ASTM F-2413-05 Impact/Compression/Metatarsal Class 75 Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Foot Protection.

Foot and Leg Protection

Employees who face possible foot or leg injuries from falling or rolling objects or from crushing or penetrating materials should wear protective footwear. Also, employees whose work involves exposure to hot substances or corrosive or poisonous materials must have protective gear to cover exposed body parts, including legs and feet. If an employee’s feet may be exposed to electrical hazards, non-conductive footwear should be worn. On the other hand, workplace exposure to static electricity may necessitate the use of conductive footwear. Examples of situations in which an employee should wear foot and/or leg protection include:

When heavy objects such as barrels or tools might roll onto or fall on the employee’s feet;

Working with sharp objects such as nails or spikes that could pierce the soles or uppers of ordinary shoes;

Exposure to molten metal that might splash on feet or legs;

Working on or around hot, wet or slippery surfaces; and

Working when electrical hazards are present.

Note: The Mine Safety and Health Administration, the Nuclear Regulartory Commission, the Federal Aviation Administration, 26 US state governments and 3 US Territory governments do not fall under OSHA regulations. These agencies and governments define and oversee their own PPE standards.

Safety footwear must meet ANSI (please see above) minimum compression and impact performance standards or provide equivalent protection. All ANSI approved footwear has a protective toe and offers impact and compression protection. But the type and amount of protection is not always the same. Different footwear protects in different ways. Check the product’s labeling or consult the manufacturer to make sure the footwear will protect the user from the hazards they face.

Foot and leg protection choices include the following:

Leggings protect the lower legs and feet from heat hazards such as molten metal or welding sparks. Safety snaps allow leggings to be removed quickly.

Metatarsal guards protect the instep area from impact and compression. Made of aluminum, steel, fiber or plastic, these guards may be strapped to the outside of shoes.

Toe guards fit over the toes of regular shoes to protect the toes from impact and compression hazards. They may be made of steel, aluminum or plastic.

Combination foot and shin guards protect the lower legs and feet, and may be used in combination with toe guards when greater protection is needed.

Safety shoes/boots have impact-resistant toes and heat-resistant soles that protect the feet against hot work surfaces common in roofing, paving and hot metal industries. The metal insoles of some safety shoes protect against puncture wounds. Safety shoes may also be designed to be electrically conductive to prevent the buildup of static electricity in areas with the potential for explosive atmospheres or nonconductive to protect workers from workplace electrical hazards.

Special Purpose Shoes/Boots

Electrically conductive shoes/boots provide protection against the buildup of static electricity. Employees working in explosive and hazardous locations such as explosives manufacturing facilities or grain elevators must wear conductive shoes to reduce the risk of static electricity buildup on the body that could produce a spark and cause an explosion or fire. Foot powder should not be used in conjunction with protective conductive footwear because it provides insulation, reducing the conductive ability of the shoes. Silk, wool and nylon socks can produce static electricity and should not be worn with conductive footwear. Conductive shoes must be removed when the task requiring their use is completed. Note: Employees exposed to electrical hazards must never wear conductive shoes.

Electrical hazard, safety-toe shoes/boots are nonconductive and will prevent the wearers’ feet from completing an electrical circuit to the ground. These shoes can protect against open circuits of up to 600 volts in dry conditions and should be used in conjunction with other insulating equipment and additional precautions to reduce the risk of a worker becoming a path for hazardous electrical energy. The insulating protection of electrical hazard, safety-toe shoes may be compromised if the shoes become wet, the soles are worn through, metal particles become embedded in the sole or heel, or workers touch conductive, grounded items. Note: Nonconductive footwear must not be used in explosive or hazardous locations.

Foundry Shoes/Boots

In addition to insulating the feet from the extreme heat of molten metal, foundry shoes keep hot metal from lodging in shoe eyelets, tongues or other shoe parts. These snug-fitting leather or leather-substitute shoes have leather or rubber soles and rubber heels. All foundry shoes must have built-in safety toes.

Care of Protective Footwear

As with all protective equipment, safety footwear should be inspected prior to each use. Shoes and leggings should be checked for wear and tear at reasonable intervals. This includes looking for cracks or holes, separation of materials, broken buckles or laces. The soles of shoes should be checked for pieces of metal or other embedded items that could present electrical or tripping hazards. Employees should follow the manufacturers’ recommendations for cleaning and maintenance of protective footwear.
